VMware Inc. was formed in 1999, seeded from a Stamford University
PHD project. It has since grown to become the market-defining
supplier of enterprise-class virtualisation software for the
x86 platform.
Success brings with it competition. Whilst there are other
sources of Server Virtualisation software, we believe that
there is only one real choice for the corporate datacentre
at this time. Only VMware products offer the performance,
reliability and comprehensive feature-set that Virtualised
Infrastructure demands. Other products show the hallmarks
of their origin as simple multi-boot or compatibility solutions
in their lack of integrated central management capability,
absence of broad hardware compatibility or poor performance.
VMware VirtualCentre demonstrates some of the markets most
groundbreaking technology, with features such as fully centralised
monitoring, reporting and alerting and the seminal VMotion
– the ability to move running virtual machines between
host hardware in real time. These are defining requirements
for zero-downtime maintenance and reduced ownership costs.
Open Standards play an increasing role in the protection of
IT investments. VMware leads the field in creating an open
standard for virtualisation products. As VMware product
continues to develop open standard support with leading Hardware
and Software manufacturers, this will bring with it increased
compatibility, near-native performance levels and entire infrastructures
that carry the “Certified Ready for Virtualisation”
mark.
Virbis deploys VMware as its supplier of choice for Server
Virtualisation and uses its close partnership with VMware
Inc. to guarantee sound investment for its clients.
